Jazz on Second Sundays – Sunday, October 9 at the Buffalo History Museum, One Museum Ct. in Buffalo. The recently-formed Buffalo Jazz Collective launches their first concert season with shows at the History Museum on the second Sunday of most months; pre-show talks begin at 2 p.m., with music getting underway at 2:30 p.m. Find out more at www.buffalohistory.org.

Dining Out For Life – Tuesday, October 11 at participating restaurants around Western New York. This fundraising event raises money for AIDS service organizations, including Evergreen Health. Participating restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner to these organizations – find out more about it here.

Buffalo on Tap Harvest Festival –Saturday, October 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hamburg Fairgrounds Events Center (5820 South Park Ave. in Hamburg), featuring more than 100 brews from some of the country’s best craft breweries. Standard tickets for this 21-and-over event are $38 in advance ($48 at the door) and includes a souvenir sampling glass, live entertainment and three hours of sampling; VIP tickets are $60 ($70 at the door) and includes entry at 4 p.m., a food voucher, growler coozie and more – get more information here.

Local Restaurant Week – from October 17-23, some of the best locally-owned and operated restaurants in the Western New York area will be offering special menus for lunch and/or dinner – options range in price from $20.16, $30.16 and $40.16, and can be for one or two people.
